FAQs

You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers

What’s the dress code for this shin dig?

The event is cocktail attire but please be aware the ceremony will be on a lawn in case you are thinking of wearing heels, stilettos could be tricky.

What’s the bridal party wearing?

The guys will be in light blue suits and the gals will be in what the stylists call a warm sunset spectrum (aka light blush - red wine with copper tones). Clear as mud? We assume you're asking so that you don't accidently match the bridal party, which is thoughtful, but as it turns out, we don't care.

What will the weather be like?

As of September 9th, it’s looking like the 18th will be mostly sunny and in the mid 70s. Please keep in mind that mid 70s is very warm at altitude if you are in the sun, but it will be cool at night so plan ahead (because yeah, we’re in the Rockies).

Should I be worried about altitude sickness?

Because everybody is a unique snowflake most people won’t have to worry about altitude sickness but everybody should be aware of it. Symptoms include headaches, nausea, dizziness and exhaustion. There are steps you can take to mitigate the possibility.

  1. Drink LOTS of water

  2. Acclimate for a night in Denver before driving up (time allowing)

  3. If you’ve never exercised at altitude ease into any physical activity

  4. If you’ve never boozed at altitude, also ease into it

Are my kids welcome?

Although we love your little ones, our wedding is an adults-only event. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time and leaving the little ones at home so you can celebrate with us.

Will I need a car?

Luckily Steamboat has great public transportation if you want to forgo renting a vehicle, however, having a car can make life simpler. Also Uber and Lyft do not have dependable availability in the mountains, so do not count on ride sharing to get around (though there are drivers who live up there).

How do I get to the ceremony?

Unfortunately the Gondola is now under construction so we will be shuttling you characters up the mountain. You must be at the Steamboat Gondola Transit Center no later than 1:15pm to catch the shuttle. There is plenty of parking and if you are staying in a hotel they can provide a shuttle service for you.

What should I be doing in-between the ceremony and reception?

Solve a Rubik's cube? Write the next great American novel? Find a cure for cancer? It's anyone's guess, but after the ceremony/cocktail hour on the mountain and the shuttle back down to the base, you'll only have about 1.5 hours to kill and you’ll want to be on time to the reception because it’s all up hill from there.

How do I get to the reception?

The reception is at Aurum Food & Wine in downtown Steamboat. If you plan on drinking please find alternative means to get there. If you’re staying downtown it is an easy walk and if you’re staying at the base of the mountain, we have arranged transportation for you to get home up until 11:45 pm.

Can I take and/or post pictures to social media?

Heck yes you can, you Influencer you! The 30 minutes of our actual ceremony will be an electronic free zone (we've hired professionals for that part), but any time before or after please snap away. We'd love to see them all, so if you can use our wedding hashtag #SlineyGetsConned we would so appreciate it.
